How to Have the Best Fall Vacation (the Best Travel Tips)

Who said a fall vacation has to be boring? I know some of us live in places where we can’t take advantage of fall 100%. But, that doesn’t mean it has to be boring.

Fall is a beautiful (and one of my favorites) season. The colors, the vibes, the cozy activities, and the outfits. Like, this season has it all. And why not? Also, travel.

Traveling during fall doesn’t have to be a big deal, although it’s actually one of the best times to travel because it’s a slow season. This means you’ll get better travel deals, cheaper flights, and more affordable destinations.

So, in today’s blog post I’m going to share the best travel tips to make this season the best of them all!

10 Travel Tips for the Best Fall Vacation

Fall vacation tips

Tip 1: Layer Up in Style

Fall is my favorite season when it comes to style because it’s easier to layer outfits without feeling suffocated due to the hot weather. You can style your pieces in many fun ways and don’t think about how drastically the weather will change.

My favorite part? It’s so easy to create a fall capsule wardrobe for traveling without being boring. Pinterest is so full of fall outfit ideas easy to recreate!

Tip 2: Embrace Cozy Fall Activities

Fall vacation doesn’t have to be boring just because it’s starting to get cold. Take this season to embrace cozy activities, or if you’re more of an active person, you can still have fun while hiking.

What are some activities you could do during this season?

  • Hiking
  • Apple picking
  • Pumpkin carving
  • Self-Care days

Tip 3: Plan for Rainy Days

I know fall weather can be unpredictable. One day could be sunny and the next day would be raining so much you can’t go out of the house. So, for those days, you should have a bucket list with activities to do at home.

So, if you’re traveling this fall, remember there’s a high chance of rain. For days like this, I recommend you look for indoor activities. You can visit a museum, take a long-distance train ride, visit local cafes, and many other things.

Tip 4: Indulge in Fall Flavors

Every country and culture has specific flavors for fall. So, if you’re traveling internationally this season, you should try your destination’s fall flavors.

For example, here in the Dominican Republic, we don’t use pumpkin spice, however, we have dishes like Sancocho and Pudin de pan that are really popular during this season.

So, don’t be shy and try other culture’s national dishes and flavors!

Tip 5: Capture Fall Foliage

My favorite thing about fall is definitely its color. The trees look beautiful and the city just takes another vibe during this season. So, if you don’t have a fall travel bucket list, then you should have one ASAP.

Some popular destinations for a fall vacation include countries like the U.S., Canada, Japan, and Switzerland because their landscapes are just a dream!

And if you’d like some aesthetic photos, I recommend you look for non-popular streets with lots of fall foliage. Take the pictures walking through them and you’ll see those comments pop off!

Tip 6: Plan for Shorter Days

Let’s remember that during fall and winter, days are shorter and nights are longer. So, when planning your activities and the places you’re visiting, keep that in mind.

You can take advantage of this and go downtown to enjoy and experience the nightlife of the city you’re visiting. And, if you’re into restaurants you can make reservations for an earlier time so you can enjoy other activities after dinner.

Tip 7: Take Care of Your Skin

Skincare is key during fall, especially if you’re traveling. So, when packing, always try to prioritize hydrating and moisturizing products since the cold weather can dehydrate your skin.

Also, keep in mind that our skin is often drier during the cold seasons, so I recommend adapting your skincare routine to this weather.

Tip 8: Pack Essentials for Fall Travel

Here’s when a capsule wardrobe comes in handy. Packing the essentials for fall while also being mindful of the pieces you take will make traveling a lot easier.

I mean, there’s no reason to pack heavier during this season. Packing fall essentials, and neutral colors, and taking your skincare in your carry-on will make your trip smoother.

Tip 9: Enjoy the Tranquility of Fall

Since fall is a slow season, the places you visit won’t be as crowded as they would be during summer. So, take this time to have a relaxing yet fun trip.

Don’t rush your itinerary, schedule relaxing activities, and appreciate the beauty of fall wherever you go. This will make your trip unforgettable!
