Being in your 20s usually goes hand in hand with having a tight budget. However, it shouldn’t stop us from having a great time during this period. I mean, there are many affordable places to visit, but, as I know these can be hard to find or enlist, I made a list of cheap Caribbean islands to visit… cause why not start here?

The Caribbean Islands are the top destinations to visit when you’re young. They are affordable and safe, and you can have great fun there! Just think about it… beaches, amazing nightlife, all-inclusive resorts, and a lot more! Hear me out! You’re reading this from a local POV, so stick to the end for some extra tips!

Caribbean Destinations

The Dominican Republic

USD $137 per day

Let’s begin with my home. The Dominican Republic is a great option if you’re looking for a destination full of all-inclusive resorts, yet lots of adventures and affordable prices. This island has some of the best beaches in the world, with cristaline waters, and many restaurants near them with some of the best tropical dishes.

When in the Dominican Republic you’d pay around $25 or $30 for food, and $5 for local transportation. Uber is available in this country, so you’d pay around $3 or $4 per ride!

Also, in Punta Cana, which is one of the most luxurious cities in the Dominican Republic, you can find an Airbnb for as cheap as $35 per night if you’re traveling alone or with one person, and $150 – $200 if you’re traveling with 7+ people. And you can find all-inclusive resorts all over the country for as cheap as $100 p/p, p/ night!

Cheapest Caribbean Vacation

Cuba

USD $45 per day

If you’re looking for cheap Caribbean islands to visit then Cuba must be on that list. This is one of the best destinations for solo travelers! You can travel around the city for less than $5. Plus, you can meet new people pretty easily since Cubans are very friendly! 

Additionally, if you want to explore the Caribbean without worrying about your safety, this island is the perfect choice. You can visit museums, and beaches, plus live a 60s life during the present because of its classic culture.

And if you like going out at night, Cuba has great clubs where you can enjoy salsa and son, two of their typical music genres! This beautiful island is the best tropical getaway for a solo female traveler, and you can’t miss it!!

Also, you can find luxurious Aribnbs for $12 – $20, and amazing hostels for only $6! I mean, this is a dream, girl!!

The Bahamas

USD $251 per day

If you’re looking for a cheap Caribbean vacation spot, with a luxurious vibe, then The Bahamas is for you!

The Bahamas is most likely the easiest Caribbean island to visit from the US due to its proximity to the country. Plus, it’s pretty easy to get around since you don’t have to change any currency. I’m telling you, this one is on the list of cheap Caribbean destinations, however, it will give you the vibe of getting around a luxurious spot.

Its all-inclusive resorts, golf campuses, water sports, and other activities are going to make this, the most memorable Caribbean trip.

Cheap Vacation in the Caribbean

Aruba

USD $325 per day

Aruba is by far one of the cheapest Caribbean islands, which also makes it one of the most visited.

This tropical destination is known for its gorgeous beaches, with white sand and cristaline waters, and perfect for practicing many water sports. However, this place is also perfect for you if you’re less adventurous and more relaxed!

Aruba boasts a wide variety of museums and places to learn about its culture as a result of its historic events, such as the 1750-era Alto Vista Chapel, a modest but striking chapel perched on a cliff.

Plus, have you seen those aesthetic pictures with flamingoes all over Pinterest? It’s on the beach on Renaissance Island, a memorable location where flamingos wander around the sands… gorgeous!

If you want to travel to the Caribbean for cheap, then Turks & Caicos must be on that bucket list too! I mean, it’s also on my bucket list, and I’m planning to visit it very soon.

This Island is a perfect vacation spot if, besides beaches, you’re looking for gorgeous places to go hiking and memorable wildlife. Plus, it’s a great destination if you love snorkeling and scuba diving.

Also, unlike other cheap Caribbean islands (such as mine, DR) Turks & Caicos is known for its incredible weather all year long. This makes it by far, one of the best tropical destinations.

Barbados

USD $328 per day

Barbados will forever be on my list of cheap Caribbean Vacation spots, especially cause I’m a big fan of festivals and this island has great ones. Some of the most popular ones are the Barbados Food and Rum Festival (which I love because of the great variety of rums and food they showcase, not gonna lie, as a Dominican I’m a big fan of food and rum haha) and the Open Water Festival!

Also, if you’re looking for a destination where you can relax, then this is also a good option, thanks to its quiet beaches and lush palm forests.

Cheapest Caribbean islands to visit in your 20s

Jamaica

USD $130 per day

Jamaica has always been a popular travel destination because of its laid-back atmosphere, breathtaking beauty, and plenty of attractions.

This is another great vacation spot if you love festivals. I suggest visiting Jamaica in July, so you can catch the island’s largest reggae festival, the annual Reggae Sumfest.

If you’re also looking for breathtaking nature, this is your spot! This country is full of magnificent waterfalls, broad rivers, and lush surroundings.

Puerto Rico

USD $220 per day

If you’re looking for another island with similar vibes to the Dominican Republic,  but easier to get, then Puerto Rico is your spot.

Puerto Rico, besides being one of the cheapest Caribbean destinations, has a great variety of rum you’d love to try. Plus, it’s a great place to get to know more about the Caribbean culture in general, since you’ll have museums and fortresses to visit and learn about our history!

St. Maarten/St. Martin

Travelers to St. Maarten/St. Martin have a wonderful time thanks to the island’s clear blue ocean, numerous fruit trees scattered around, and sugary soft dunes.

This Caribbean island has two sides, one French and another Dutch, this last one would be the perfect vacation spot if you’re looking for unforgettable nightlife. Since it’s full of amazing clubs, bars and casinos.

The French side, on the other hand, will be a perfect destination if you’re looking for something quieter, full of natural beauty and peaceful beaches.

So, it doesn’t matter what type of traveler you are, you’ll find something to do on this Caribbean Island!
