6 Christmas Books for Adults in My TBR
Christmas time is a perfect time to read a book, and what better type of books than the ones based on this special days? I have many books to read during these Holidays, especially Christmas books for adults since I’m obsessed with this season!
Christmas books are a great way to get into the holiday spirit. They often have themes that are related to the holidays, such as family, love and kindness. And I know some people like reading them because they get them into the festive mood (like me :D). Others like reading them because they remind them of their childhoods when they would read these sorts of stories for school or with their families.
So, as the bookworm I am, I’ll share with you the books I have in my TBR for this season!

Let It Snow, by John Green, Lauren Myracle and Maureen Johnson
A Christmas Eve snowstorm transforms one small town into a romantic haven, the kind you see only in movies. Well, kinda. After all, a cold and wet hike from a stranded train through the middle of nowhere would not normally end with a delicious kiss from a charming stranger. And no one would think that a trip to the Waffle House through four feet of snow would lead to love with an old friend. Or that the way back to true love begins with a painfully early morning shift at Starbucks. Thanks to three of today’s bestselling teen authors—John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle—the magic of the holidays shines on these hilarious and charming interconnected tales of love, romance, and breathtaking kisses.
I watched the Netflix movie a couple of Christmas ago, and the moment I discovered it had a book, I had to read it! Plus, John Green is one of my favorite authors and having him write a Christmas Story (one of my favorite types, btw), it became a must in my TBR.
Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares, by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
“I’ve left some clues for you.
If you want them, turn the page.
If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.”So begins the latest whirlwind romance from the bestselling authors of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. Lily has left a red notebook full of challenges on a favorite bookstore shelf, waiting for just the right guy to come along and accept its dares. But is Dash that right guy? Or are Dash and Lily only destined to trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations across New York? Could their in-person selves possibly connect as well as their notebook versions? Or will they be a comic mismatch of disastrous proportions?
Rachel Cohn and David Levithan have written a love story that will have readers perusing bookstore shelves, looking and longing for a love (and a red notebook) of their own.
Another one I discovered thanks to Netflix, but this time a Series (with a soundtrack I adore!) and, MEETING THROUGH NOTES ON A NOTEBOOK? I mean, that’s the kind of romance I love!
The Christmas Shopaholic, by Sophie Kinsella
Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) adores Christmas. It’s always the same – Mum and Dad hosting, carols playing, Mum pretending she made the Christmas pudding, and the next-door neighbours coming round for sherry in their terrible festive jumpers.
And now it’s even easier with online bargain-shopping sites – if you spend enough you even get free delivery. Sorted!
But this year looks set to be different. Unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocado, Becky’s parents are moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch and have asked Becky if she’ll host Christmas this year. What could possibly go wrong?
With sister Jess demanding a vegan turkey, husband Luke determined that he just wants aftershave again, and little Minnie insisting on a very specific picnic hamper – surely Becky can manage all this, as well as the surprise appearance of an old boyfriend and his pushy new girlfriend, whose motives are far from clear . . .
Will chaos ensue, or will Becky manage to bring comfort and joy to Christmas?
Alright, chaos at Christmas, old love interests, and a shopaholic are always on TBR. But, let me be clear, more an old love interest than any of the others. And, when it gives you the “what can go wrong?” hint, it’s a sign of many things going wrong and me stressing over fictional situations. Great, right?!
The Holiday Swap, by Maggie Knox
All they want for Christmas is a different life.
When chef Charlie Goodwin gets hit on the head on the L.A. set of her reality baking show, she loses a lot more than consciousness; she also loses her ability to taste and smell–both critical to her success as show judge. Meanwhile, Charlie’s identical twin, Cass, is frantically trying to hold her own life together back in their quaint mountain hometown while running the family’s bustling bakery and dealing with her ex, who won’t get the memo that they’re over.
With only days until Christmas, a desperate Charlie asks Cass to do something they haven’t done since they were kids: switch places. Looking for her own escape from reality, Cass agrees. But temporarily trading lives proves more complicated than they imagined, especially when rugged firefighter Jake Greenman and gorgeous physician’s assistant Miguel Rodriguez are thrown into the mix. Will the twins’ identity swap be a recipe for disaster, or does it have all the right ingredients for getting their lives back on track?
I mean, twins or people that look alike switching is one of my favorites, no matter the season. And I blame A Parents Trap for that obsession! This means that this is a book that couldn’t miss a spot in my Christmas TBR.
One Day in December, by Josie Silver
Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic… and then her bus drives away.
Certain they’re fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn’t find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s Jack, the man from the bus. It would be.
What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.
Since I started watching K-Dramas, love triangles have been part of my personality. So, I couldn’t miss reading a novel with a love triangle, full of missing opportunities with the love of your life and, I bet, lots of crying from this crybaby.
Always, in December, by Emily Stone
Every December, Josie posts a letter from her home in London to the parents she lost on Christmas night many years ago. Each year, she writes the same three words: Missing you, always. But this year, her annual trip to the postbox is knocked off course by a bicycle collision with a handsome stranger–a stranger who will change the course of Josie’s life.
Josie always thought she was the only one who avoided the Christmas season, but this year, Max has his own reasons for doing the same–and coincidence leads them to spending the holiday together. Aglow with new love, Josie thinks this might be the start of something special.
Only for Max to disappear without saying goodbye.
Over the course of the next year, Max and Josie will find that fate continues to bring them together in places they’d never expect. New York City. Edinburgh. The quiet English countryside. And it turns out, Max had every reason to leave and every reason to stay. But what does fate hold for Josie and Max as Christmas approaches again?
A devastating, romantic, life-affirming love story, Always, in December will stay with readers long after they’ve finished the last page.
I’m not going to lie, the word devastating got me. Reasons for leaving and staying, fated relationships, meeting in Christmas… I mean, this book has it all!
Well, this would be it!
Since I don’t take vacation during the Holiday it’s almost impossible for to me read as much as I’d like to. That’s why this isn’t a very long TBR list for the Holidays. However, I hope to get back on track with my reading habits, since I’ve lost it due to work.
What about you? What are you planning to read during this Holidays?
